Velvet Two Stripes combines riot-grrrlyness, blues and garage rock. Consisting of half-Swedish sisters Diggelmann, Sophie and Sara, with an age of 25 the oldest, and bassist Franca Mock. Now based in Zurich they play together since the age of twelve. Their parents provided them with a solid base, got them into Eric Clapton, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and old blues. The garage-rock-wave of the early 2000s and bands like The White Stripes or The Strokes had their fair share of impression on the girls – until they’re ready for their own band. And what a band that is. Finally contenders from Europe, able to reclaim the garage from the boy-clubs showing that young women have a sense for the blues.
2014 the first album is released. Surprisingly mature, bluesy and every time the drum-machine dictates the pulse The Kills are not too far. On the upcoming “Got Me Good” EP the band sounds even more coherent.
Produced and recorded by Tim Tautorat (Sex Pistols, The Kooks) at Hansa Studios Berlin and mastered by Pete Lyman (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Rival Sons) in LA those five songs sound broad, fiery and diverse.
Velvet Two Stripes previously played shows on a bunch of important showcase-festivals like The Great Escape, Transmusicales and Reeperbahn Festival, supported The Kooks and Brody Dalle.
In April 2017 they will release a new EP. Stay tuned.
